Samsung Galaxy S7 could sport a thinner 20-megapixel sensor


We ve been coming across a number of rumours involving the unannounced Samsung Galaxy S7, with a new rumour spilling the beans on the upcoming flagship s camera. Bigger but thinner We ve learned thanks to past reports that Samsung is testing several camera prototypes with a few of them being dual camera setups. Some are said to offer larger megapixel counts than what s on board the S6 and S6 Edge. Now, Samsung (PDF) suggests that its newly developed 20-megapixel camera sensor could be on board the Galaxy S7. According to Samsung, the new sensor is a 20-megapixel sensor that measures 1/2.6″ and has 1.0 micron-sized pixels. It boasts reduced power draw, since it is made under Samsung’s 28 nm process. For reference, the S6 and S6 Edge feature a 16-megapixel sensor with 1.2 micron-sized pixels made under the company’s 65 nm process. Additionally, It offers a new RWB colour pattern for enhancing light sensitivity and improving the signal to noise ratio in low-light conditions.
