John Chen, BlackBerry CEO, once said that the Canadian phone maker is considering no longer making smartphones and instead focus on software if the new BlackBerry Priv slider tuns out to be a flop. It seems, however, that the first Android-powered smartphone made by BlackBerry is selling exceptionally well, as is has been sold out in the the biggest retailer in the world in terms of both revenue and number of employees. Unannounced BlackBerry device with Exynos 7420 under the hood passes through GFXBench

Currently, the most powerful smartphone made by BlackBerry is the Priv with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC under the hood. This particular CPU is a hexa-core (six cores) processor, and the same CPU found under hood of the LG G4. If a leaked benchmark test is to be believed, the Canadian phone maker is working on a more powerful device one that features a Samsung-made Exynos 7420 octa-core Soc. This is the same processor found under the hood of the highly-popular Samsung Galaxy S6. Mystery BlackBerry with Exynos 7420 under the hood The screenshot above shows a listing on the GFXBench benchmark database, which was spotted by SamMobile, a site renowned for leaking accurate information on yet to be announced Samsung devices. This time, however, it has uncovered information on a device made by BlackBerry. The test reveals that the unannounced BlackBerry device features the Exynos 7420 SoC made by Samsung under the hood, coupled with 3 GB of RAM. This CPU is a 2.1 GHz octa-core processor w

BlackBerry Priv goes through fire torture test – will it survive

Remember Jerry the young man behind YouTube channel JerryRigEverything? If not, he was the one who proved that it takes very little effort to bend the Huawei Nexus 6P in half. Well, Jerry is back. This time, however, he has put a different device through a similar test. That device is the new BlackBerry Priv. BlackBerry Priv put through fire test In Jerry s first test, he shows how the BlackBerry Priv s screen measures up against keys and change in your pocket. It showed that the screen will survive keys and coins. However, if things like sand were to rub against the screen, this could leave unsightly scratches on the screen. The test also reveals that you shouldn t put your Priv in your pocket. Although the screen can withstand keys and coins, the camera lens cannot. The test shows that the camera lens got scratched when keys rubbed against it. The test also revealed that the keys on the QWERTY keyboard can easily get scratched. This is understandable since they are made of plastic.

Alleged BlackBerry Vienna images leaked – could by another Android-powered device

In the past, we heard that BlackBerry was cooking up an Android-powered version of the BlackBerry Passport. Since we haven t heard about the rumoured device as of late, we re guessing it will never see the light of day. This, however, doesn t mean that the Canadian phone maker isn t working on a device that offers similar features found on the Passport, as leaked images that allegedly show the unannounced BlackBerry Vienna have surfaced. Like the Passport, the device features a fixed QWERTY keyboard found below the screen. BlackBerry Vienna images The images above were leaked by BlackBerry-centric site CrackBerry. It shows the device in various colour options, aside from showing that the BlackBerry Vienna will feature a fixed QWERTY keyboard unlike the BlackBerry Priv, which features a slide out QWERTY keyboard.
