Motorola exec says Android 5.1 for Moto X 1st Gen coming in a ‘few weeks’
Motorola previously announced that the Motorola Moto X 1st Gen (runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) out of the box and has now been updated to Android 4.4 (KitKat)) will skip Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and be updated to Android 5.1 (Lollipop). That update is yet to happen, but a Motorola exec is now saying that they are working on the update, and it will roll out in a few weeks. This is according to Motorola s David Schuster who said on Google+: I know that a lot of people have been asking about the status of the Moto X (1st Gen) Lollipop upgrade. I can see the frustration and in some cases the anger about how long it has taken to get the upgrade deployed. It has been a struggle due to the lack of support from some of our partners but I am glad to announce that we are starting TestDrive in both the US and LatAm. 1st gen Moto X and Moto E to skip Android 5.0.2 – will jump to Android 5.1
David Schuster, Motorola s Software product manager, announced on Google+ that the Motorola Moto X (1st Gen) and the Motorola Moto E (1st Gen) will skip the Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop) update and jump directly to the Android 5.1 (Lollipop) update. Schuster announced: As some of you might know, we ve been testing Lollipop 5.0.2 upgrades on Moto X (1st Gen), Moto E (1st Gen) and Moto G with 4G LTE (1st Gen) in several regions. In parallel we have started testing Lollipop 5.1 which was recently released by Google. Given the improvements in Lollipop 5.1, we have decided to move all efforts to upgrade these devices directly from KitKat to Lollipop 5.1. Unfortunately, Schuster failed to reveal when Motorola was planning to roll out the Android 5.1 update for the 1st Gen Moto X and Moto E, but it s good to know that it is currently working on the update. For now, keep it here at Phones LTD for further announcements. We ll let you know once the updates for the said smartphones go live in the UK

Motorola Moto G 1st Gen to be updated to Lollipop
Motorola promised that the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) would roll out to the 1st and 2nd Gen Moto G. True to its promise, the Lenovo-owned phone maker rolled out the update for this year s Moto G, but what happened to last year s version? Motorola is yet to announce when the update will be available. If you own the 1st Moto G, you may be thinking that Motorola has forgotten its promise, but an update to the Motorola Update Services app hints that it will be coming soon. The discovery was made by Android Community. The site discovered changes made to the app s changelog. The app first needs to be updated, preparing for an Android update. Although this is an indication that the latest version of Android will surely be available for the Moto G 1st Gen, we can t really tell you when Motorola plans to push out the Lollipop update for the said handset. You may be wondering why it s taking this long for Lollipop to roll out to the 2013 Moto G, which may mean that its hardware can t handle the upd
