HTC One (M8) and Desire Eye will not get Android 5.0.2 – will jump to Android 5.1 and Sense 7

A renowned HTC ROM developer is saying that the HTC One (M8) (shown below), HTC s 2014 flagship, and the HTC Desire Eye, HTC s ultimate selfie smartphone, will never be updated to Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop). He does, however, say that the Taiwanese firm will skip Android 5.0.2 and jump directly to Android 5.1, which will include HTC s Sense 7 UI. The ROM developer in question is Twitter account @LlabTooFeR (1 & 2). In his first tweet, he says that only the HTC One M9 will get Android 5.0.2. They will, however, jump directly to Android 5.1 with Sense 7 slapped on top. Non of the current devices will get Android 5.0.2 + Sense 7.0 (except M9) Sense 7.0 become available with Android 5.1 only on some models. — LlabTooFeR (@LlabTooFeR) April 10, 2015 In a second tweet, @LlabTooFeR says that the HTC One (M8) and the HTC Desire Eye will definitely get Sense 7. For sure Sense 7.0 will be available as update for M8, M8s, Desire EYE, Butterfly 2 and some other devices — LlabTooFeR (@L

Elephant steps on HTC Desire Eye – will it survive?

The HTC Desire Eye is the Taiwanese phone maker s selfie-centric smartphone. However, unlike other selfie-centric smartphone s out there, this device sports two massive 13-megapixel cameras one in the front and one in the back. Now that we know that the Desire Eye is a selfie monster, how will it hold up against usual wear and tear of daily use, like let s say being stepped on by an elephant. Okay, so the chances of your smartphone getting run over by an elephant is close to impossible, but it s still fun to watch. The video below isn t in English, but at least it s subtitled. It shows the HTC Desire Eye going through a number of drop tests. When the smartphone is dropped on its face, the screen cracks but still works. Oh, did we tell you that these tests were done at the Eram Zoo in Teheran? So now you know where the elephant came from. Anyway, we ll let you watch the video and see for yourself what happens next. Impressed? Does this make you want to get your hands on an HTC Desire E

New HTC Desire Eye ads promote Eye Experience feature

The HTC Desire Eye is the ultimate selfie-centric smartphone. It sports a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 13-megapixel selfie-optimised front-facing camera. But, aside from the impressive hardware, it also sports a pretty nifty feature called the HTC Eye Experience. HTC Eye Experience includes features such as Live Makeup, which changes the way your skin looks when snapping selfies. Another is Face Fusion, which allows you to take portraits and merge them to create one face. Last but not the least is Face Tracking, a feature that allows the front-facing camera to track, regardless of whether the subject is standing still or not. It also tracks as many as four members of a group video chat. Here are the ads: Do you want to get your hands on the HTC Desire Eye and try out the HTC Eye Experience features? One (M8 Eye) with 13-megapixel Duo camera not coming to Europe, HTC confirms

Earlier this month, HTC lifted the lid on the Desire Eye, its selfie-centric smartphone sporting a 13-megapixel front-facing wide-angle camera with dual LED flash, and the RE standalone camera. At around the same time, the HTC One (M8 Eye) was quietly launched in China. So what s the difference between the two? The M8 sports a 4-megapixel Duo camera, while the M8 Eye sports a 13-megapixel Duo camera. Now that the M8 Eye has been launched in China, when do we get our hands on the device? Sadly, according to HTC, the device will never be launched in Europe. The news comes to us courtesy of Fudzilla. According to the site: We had a chance to chat with some local DACH HTC representatives and we got confirmation that the new HTC One M8 Eye won t be coming to Germany, Austria or Switzerland. The representative said the HTC One M8 was designed for specific markets, especially India, and he said that the device lacks some features like infrared found on the high-end HTC One M8. So there you g

HTC Desire Eye to launch in the ‘coming weeks’?

Early this month, HTC lifted the lid on its selfie-centric smartphone, the HTC Eye, but remained tight-lipped on when the new handset would be available in shops. Now a report suggests that device will be available in the coming weeks. Well, in Taiwan at least. The news comes to us courtesy of Focus Taiwan. It reports, HTC Corp. s new selfie-centric smartphone has been certified by Taiwan s communications regulator, the National Communications Commission (NCC), for sale in the country, a step that the company hopes will help it sustain its local sales momentum. The approval notice, published Tuesday on the NCC s website, means that the 5.2-inch HTC Desire EYE could be available in local stores in the coming weeks after making its global debut in New York on Oct. 9. If you re not familiar with the HTC Desire Eye, it sports a 13-megapixel wide-angle front-facing camera with dual LED flash. Yes, you rear it right. That s the camera on the front. The rear-facing camera is also a 13-megapi

HTC One (M8 Eye) launched in China

HTC recently lifted the lid on the HTC Desire Eye and the HTC RE camera at its Double Exposure event. What was missing from the event was the rumoured HTC One (M8 Eye). With the device MIA from the event, it was initially thoughts that the device was nothing but a conjured up rumour. Apparently, however, the device exists as it has been launched in China. The HTC One (M8 Eye) costs ¥3,999 in China. This converts to around £404. So what s the difference between the regular One (M8) and the One (M8 Eye)? The One (M8) sports a 4-megapixel Duo camera, while the One (M8 Eye) sports a 13-megapixel Duo Camera. Everything else under the hood is the same. Unfortunately, HTC is yet to announce if the One (M8 Eye) will be available in the UK. Keep it here at Phones LTD for further updates.

HTC Desire Eye to cost around £416?

The HTC Desire Eye has just made it debut. Unfortunately, the Taiwanese phone maker has remained tight-lipped when it comes to pricing. French-speaking NWE, however, claims to know the smartphone s price tag. According to the site, the HTC Desire Eye will cost €529 in France. This converts to around £416, which is around the same price of the HTC One (M8) in the country. In the UK, the HTC One (M8) cost £407.99. If NWE is right, expect the HTC Desire Eye to cost as much as HTC s current flagship. Keep it here at Phones LTD for further updates.
