BlackBerry Passport with rounded corners to be offered by AT&T

We ve said it before and we ll say it again the BlackBerry Passport is one of the (if not the most) unique smartphone to be available in 2014. Thanks to the device with its square screen and keyboard that also works as a trackpad, the Canadian phone maker has become profitable again. Despite being a huge hit among BlackBerry fans and the enterprise market, there are few things about the smartphone s design that doesn t sit well with us. One of these is its rather sharp edges. It seems BlackBerry has come up with a redesigned Passport that comes with rounded edges (pictured below). Like what you see? Unfortunately, if you re looking to get your hands on the rounded BlackBerry Passport, you re going to have to fly all the way to the US and become an AT&T customer. The US network operator has announced that it will exclusively offer the redesigned Passport. It didn t mention when it would launch the device, but it did say that it would reveal more details in the coming weeks. Although A

BlackBerry Passport dropped from 20 feet and survives

In a previous report, we saw the BlackBerry Passport dropped from approximately 5 feet. A lot of smartphones dropped from this height would do a lot damage, but it didn t seem to do a lot of damage to the Passport apart from a few scratches here and there. In a new video, the smartphone is dropped from a distance of 20 feet and survives. In its first test, the video shows the Passport being flung a huge distance across a baseball field. Apart from getting dirty, it doesn t really do any damage to the phone, since it land on soft grass after all. In the second test, this is when most phones plunge to their deaths as the Passport is dropped 20 feet down a sinkhole. The only damage done to the handset is few scratches to the side. The Passport s ordeal doesn t end here. It is dropped a second time and you d think that this would be the end of the productive device. However, apart from a shattered screen, it still functions. After the drop test, the Passport is run over by a car. Again, y

BlackBerry advertises its new flagship, the BlackBerry Passport, as a device that boosts productivity. In the smartphone s newest ad, Toronto Raptors (a professional  basketball team in the National Basketball Association) general manager Masai Ujiri promotes the Passport. Before anything else, it would make sense for BlackBerry to use the Toronto Raptors in its ads, since Toronto is one of Canada s cities. In the ad, Ujiri finds the BlackBerry Passport amazing. It shows the GM taking advantage of the smartphone s 4.5-inch square screen with a resolution of 1440

BlackBerry Passport demand exceeds supply – exceeds expectations

According to BlackBerry CEO, John Chen, the BlackBerry Passport, the Canadian phone maker s new flagship has exceeded expectations, as the demand has exceeded supply. TheGlobeandMail reports Chen saying, I m glad to have inventory issues. It shows that people want the phone. We took a very conservative approach and didn t order too many. 200,000 units of the BlackBerry Passport were sold in the first two days the smartphone went live. It was sold out on BlackBerry s website within 6 hours and 10 hours on Amazon. The BlackBerry Passport is more a tool than a sexy device, which is why it targets 30% of the market that are looking to use their smartphones for productivity. Speaking about the matter, Chen said, That is not a space that we can afford to be in now. Being sexy and being a workhorse are two different things. BlackBerry is yet to tap into the Chinese mobile phone market, with China Mobile being the biggest network operator not only in China but the world as well. Chen said, Ch

Blackberry Passport is unlike any other smart phone

The qwerty keyboard is an evolved version of previous Blackberry devices which incorporates gesture control for quick typing and makes it similar to use to the on-screen keyboards of other phones.
